FILTERED conference: Challenging Big Industry Narratives: Alcohol, Tobacco, Unhealthy Food and Drinks: Population Measures and Policies

Tuesday, 18 June 2024

The SFP is participating in the conference ‘Challenging Big Industry Narratives: Alcohol, Tobacco, Unhealthy Food and Drinks: Population Measures and Policies’ taking place on June 27-28, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This conference is organised as part of the FILTERED project – From Siloes to Synergies to Prevent NCDs, co-funded by the European Union (Action Grant, EU4Health Programme).

SFP Director, Lilia Olefir, will be moderating Plenary Panel Discussion 1. This panel will delve into pricing policies related to the commercial determinants of health, focusing on pro-health taxes. These taxes have proven effective in reducing non-communicable diseases and generating revenue, yet they remain contentious. The speakers on the panel are Dr. Michal Stoklosa (WHO), Hughes de la Motte (DG TAXUD, European Commission), and Arnfinn Helleve (JA-PreventNCD).

SFP President, Guy Muller, will participate in Plenary Panel Discussion 5. Together with the President of Eurocare, Peter Rice, and the Board Member of the European Heart Network, among others, they will explore the theme of partnership, looking into the future, speaking with one voice, and working together.
